Copyright to my pictures ??

Today I find this picture "mormors syskrin" taken from my blog, on someones others blog, without MY NAME. I think that the person had done it because she like it and wanted to share with other, But my name wasn´t there !!! When I give here a comment about it she removed the photo and my comment!!! But if I click at one of her photo I came in on a site, and there is my photo still. And noway is my name !! edit: she has now deleted it
I don´t know if it´s best to watermark you photo??? I have test here with writing my name and blog on this photo.
I think it´s nice when people feautered my work, but I want credit - I will that they shall write my NAME, and I will that they shall told me.
What do you think about it ????
If it is one of my photo I have on etsy, yes, it´s promotion, but still is it me who wants cred for it ???

edit:

I have copy and past in two comments here beacuse that I have change a little in my post and wanted to share these comments:

Hi Gunnel - I quite agree that people should ask permission first and you should be given credit - you name should be present.By putting our work out on the Internet is available for all to see but it is not right for others to take it and credit themselves with it.Good manners cost nothing!!!

you have quite right Gunnel: nobody has to take your work without your name

Wow,that is something! You are right to put your mark on photos. Thanks for sharing this. She should at least link to your blog! Very odd situation.

Hello Gunnel,
She is not playing by the rules here Gunnel. She is totally out of order. I have put on my blog at the top to ask permission to use my photos. I am very sorry you have experienced this.....it is upsetting.

Hens Teeth sa...

Sorry Gunnel, I see you too have put at the top of your blog...to ask permission. I hope you have no more of this poor behaviour.

Kayla coo sa...

I think it's dreadful for someone to use your pictures and not credit you.
It is like stealing.
As Hens Teeth says it's not playing by the rules!

teodo sa...

I think that this work it's your and so she should write your name.
ciao ciao

Sorry to hear that this has happened to you Gunnel--let's hope that the person in question has learnt her lesson.

Lynn sa...

Absolutely right. This is YOUR work and ONLY YOU should get credit for it. ONE MUST ASK...to take something from anothers blog. One can't just tell you they are taking it. It requires PERMISSION. shame on the person who TOOK it unasked and she should remove it from everywhere on her blog.

This piece is beautiful!!!

Du har rett Gunnel og si fra! Dette er uhørt at der er mennesker som stjeler din bilder uten å spørre.

Hi, Gunnel,
nobody has to take your work without your name.

At the very least and I mean VERY LEAST, she should link to wherever she took your photo from (which would be your site I assume). So many people have no concept of copyright. There are beaders who have copied my patterns from pictures of my cuffs and think it is perfectly okay. sigh :( The cost of being "out there."

Gunnel, I think this is outrageous and shameful. I have a fear for my work being used like this as I am sure other bloggers do.It would be a good idea if we all watch for this and report to anyone whose work we see being used in this way.

meplusmolly sa...

Hi Gunnel
I agree with everyone that it isn't right for that person to have used a photo of your work without crediting the work as yours, very wrong of them.
They should have asked your permission first, sorry this has happened to you ;0 x

Gunnel I'm so sorry to hear this has happened to you, very wrong and terribly upsetting. But please don't let this put you off sharing your beautiful things, I think most are very respectful of other's work and it's rather a minority that don't understand copyright or just good plain etiquette.
Thank you for the reference to the stamp:)

I'm sure the person who did this, as you point out in your post, was just showing your work to other people, and I doubt she thought you would ever see it. Surprise, it's a small cyber-world out there. Hopefully she learned a leson. I don't even have any kind of disclaimer on my blog. I guess I'd bette get on that.

Lorenza sa...

You are right Gunnel, nobody can show your work without your name or permission. Thank you for sharing your experience

That is an awfull experience Gunnel, like somebody broke in. They have to respect the owner, somebody has done something simular to me years ago and I still angry about it. Maybe blogland has no clear rules but there are always rules like decency. One thing to please you up: your work is so good, they are willing to steal it:-)

I would not dream of using or borrowing anyone's creativity. It is common courtesy to ask first if they wanted to post your artwork. It makes me sad to think anyone could be so careless and not think how they would like it if it were the other way around. I too have thought a watermark might be a good idea. I have to find out how! I found you visiting Margaret's blog and thought I would come to visit :)

Thank you all for comments! I think we all have to be careful with others work and pictures, and always tell were we got the image, and give links etc. But almost every one in the blogland know this and are very friendly!

I enjoy looking at your blog and I too sorry to read about this.

I suppose it is a risk we all take by putting our work out into cyberspace, but credit to the artist should always be given! Good for you for speaking up!

Angelika Westermann sa...

I can fully understand that you are furious! Would be, too. But I suppose there will always be people who don't play by the rules.
You could take it philosophically and feel complimented that someone wants to show your photos. But in the end I think it is best to just make a watermark on everything that was created by you.

Gunnels blog sa...

Thanks again! I think we have to live with the risk, and we want to share our work, didn´t we ??
Tessa I try to get in to your blog but couldn´t - thank you for your comment :-)

So sorry to hear this happened to you. I certainly think that people should credit you when they use your work!

This is one of the pitfalls I have run across also. One wants to trust and share, but the reality is, some people either don't know the appropriate protocol or just ignore it. I'm also beginning to try watermarking my work as I have found one of my paintings used in a few places. Good luck and if I find a good watermarking program, I will pass it along. Great blog, thanks for sharing it with us.

I'm so sorry this happened. I'm very behind in my blog reading so I know it was awhile ago. I did want to say I appreciate you posting about it. So many folks don't understand just because it's there, doesn't mean you can use it.
